Hi Adam,
We have recently taken in a 15 week old male Maine Coon kitten and we are very worried about his behaviour. He slinks around from hiding place to hiding place and only eats and uses his litter tray when we are not around. He refuses to have anything to do with our persian kitten and displays incredible fear. He shakes terribly for about 20 minutes before he settles down and starts purring. As soon as you stop stroking him, he starts shaking again and runs into the nearest dark corner where he will remain until either Calvin or I drag him out to love him. The persian kitten has settled in very well over the past 8 days and she is playful and talkative. She eats and uses the litter tray as needed.
Is this normal and if not, do you have any suggestions for us?

I might have a mix if no a full main coon, and she is more affectionate in the morning, but throughout the day she only stays within reach. she never lap sits after the first few hrs in the morning of 'visiting' where she purrs and loves pets. but throughout the day, evening and night she doesn't want much else from us. She doesn't engage in play much, she'll flip onto her back but wont chase or anything. It's hard to get her to exercise because of this.
I want to bond more with her, and have her embrace us but at the same time she is what she is and I don't want to force her either. Any advice?
